What's New in Sync 2.0

Folder Permissions

Change between Read Only, Read & Write and Owner permissions before, while or after sharing folders with other people

Revoke a user’s access to future updates to the folder

Designate other users as a folder owner - owners can share the folder, change permissions, and revoke access

Ability to alter a user’s permission when approving their connection request

Link Devices using a Private Identity

Ability to link all of your devices together using a private identity - it’s the private alternative to having an account in the cloud

Folder list is common across all of your linked devices, saving you from having to manually add each folder to each device - folders can be automatically added in one of three ways:

  • Disconnected - the folder is available, but is not connected to the peer group and is not syncing files
  • Connected - the folder is connected to the peer group and all files in the folder are available to be accessed on-demand
  • Synced - the folder is connected to the peer group and all files are synchronized

Disconnect from a folder and still have it available to re-connect in the future

A device with a lot of storage can be set to Synced mode, keeping all of your shared folders automatically protected and available

Can share a folder and approve connections from any of your linked devices - no need anymore to approve connections on the specific device that shared the folder

Access Files On-Demand
Ability to connect to a folder without synchronizing all of its contents - only placeholder files will be received, saving space and allowing access to very large folders

Access files on-demand by opening .bts placeholder files in Windows Explorer (Windows) or Finder (OS X)

Individual file receive progress shown in Windows Explorer (Windows) or Finder (OS X)

Folder Sharing

By default, you now only need to approve a person once to connect to a folder you shared once - the next time you share with that person, an approval is not necessary because you’re retaining a certificate with their identity

Optionally, you can set the folder link security options to require an approval for every peer that tries to connect, whether you approved them before or not

Add a classic folder using the pre-2.0 security model (keys) by holding shift+clicking the “Add Folder” button

Folder Control

Pause syncing for individual folders

Option to delete the folder from file system when disconnecting from it

Peers, or device, are now grouped by user in the Peer List

Sync Pro Licensing

Ability to buy up to 50 Pro licenses and share them with your colleagues, all privately from within Sync

The license owner can reclaim or revoke a seat license from a user and assign it to someone else

Can add a license on a private network (without internet access) by opening the .btskey license file attached to the purchase confirmation email

General Desktop Improvements

Columns in the folder list can now be sorted

General Mobile Improvements
